A sophisticated, minimalist responsive website that communicates Metal Toad’s expertise alongside the curiosity and enthusiasm of the company culture.
To redesign the Metal Toad website to reflect the high quality and sophistication of the skill and services the agency delivers. An additional objective was to keep the design simple yet compelling, to pioneer being built on the beta version of Drupal 8.
Metal Toad is a technical consultancy that offers technology strategy, development, hosting, and post-launch support for all web and mobile platforms.
As the sole in-house designer, I took the lead on reinventing the Metal Toad website, tailoring it to the needs of the audience while reinvigorating the Metal Toad brand. I began with a revised information architecture to streamline the messaging and user experience. From there, I moved into rough wireframes and concept mockups, which were approved by the Client. I partnered with the development team as I moved into full design to ensure the design mockups were feasible to build on the Drupal 8 beta in a tight timeline. (Our goal was for the website launch to coincide with moving into the 5th avenue office). I designed the full user experience and visuals, and production pristine digital files and slices to support the development team. As the website was built, I sat side-by-side with our developers to ensure the design integrity remained intact.
The result was a clean, minimalist design with a modular scheme. Custom photography, type as image, and thin-stroke iconography create a playful poise, reflecting the expertise and culture of the company. In a market filled with over complicated websites, Metal Toad has received many compliments regarding the attractiveness and ease of the redesigned website. As Drupal 8 evolves, additional feature and functionality are being designed and added.
